Women Only

Last entry from my day trip to Tokyo.


Particularly in the urban areas in Japan, women-only passenger cars are in service on the railways and the underground railways, intended to combat lewd conduct. This particular car where I captured this sign seemed to become one for women only under certain circumstances as indicated in the sign: during weekdays until 9.30 am and when it is located rearmost.

I cannot forget a man and his daughter (at the age of five or so) I saw at the museum; the father, who appeared to have a profound knowledge of history, continuously talked to his daughter on each exhibit, as much easily as he could, so that his very young daughter could understand.
