Right Living

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for try shall be satisfied.

They shall be satisfied - written in the present tense, a continual state.
Who will be satisfied?
- those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.

This verse could be translated; Blessed are those who long for, desire above anything else, to be good.

Righteousness - this word is used to describe whatever is right or just in itself and which therefore conforms to the will of God.
Right according to what God says is right.
Righteousness - Christ likeness, that means my lifestyle should show Christ to others.
Righteousness is my will submitted to God, the outworking of this should be shown in my behaviour, attitudes, thoughts, etc.

To hunger and to thirst for righteousness implies a need that has to be satisfied, no matter what the cost. An absolute necessity not a craving. A pain in our innermost being to seek after Christlikeness.
A hungry person is focused on one thing only, to have that need satisfied.

To be satisfied = to have a deep inner contentment.

John 7 38, 38
On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds," Anyone who is thirsty may come to me ! Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the scriptures declare, ' Rivers of living water will flow from his heart. "
( the waters are free , those who know their need, ie the por in spirit, are invited to come and receive )

Isaiah 51v 1,2
" Is anyone thirsty ? Come and drink- even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk- it's all free! Why spend your money on food that does you no good? Listen to me , and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food.

Is their anything in my life that is ruining my appetite for righteousness? Am I filling up on things which will not satisfy ? Am I feeding on the living bread, or filling up on what the world has to offer ?
What should my appetite look like ?
- hunger to feed on God's word
- desire to be in God's presence
-an increasing love for the things that God loves
-an increasing hatred of the things that God hates
-a longing to know and walk in His will.

Matthew 6v33
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.

What am I to seek ?
His kingdom, ie where God rules, ,where His will is absolutely and perfectly obeyed.
His righteousness, to be like Jesus.

If this is my goal, my desire, what I desire above everything else, then I will be satisfied.
The word 'chorz ' is used in this verse.
Chorzo- the feeding of an animal until they don't want anymore. Eaten it's fill.
Fully complete, every need met.
