Galveston Island ....

.... final day ......  :-(

This is our last full day here in Galveston ….. BoBB wraps up tonight for most of us.  There is a party planned later this evening at the Four Points.  


Richard and I were on our own today as everyone else had plans and we wanted to stay in Galveston.  We had to check out of our condo this morning and move to a hotel off the island.  We fly home tomorrow on a noon time flight and wanted to be closer to the airport so the drive wasn’t so long in the morning.

We had read that there was a driving tour of Galveston proper that took you by some gorgeous homes and tree stump carvings featured in some of the front yards.  The carvings are a result of damage by Hurricane Ike and the ingenuity of local artists.  They were beautiful ..... but sometimes hard to spot especially whilst driving!  And the home were definitely gorgeous.  The house in my collage is the Landes-McDonough House. It was built in 1887-88 by Confederate veteran Henry A. Landes.  The home reportedly provided refuge to some 200 people during the disastrous 1900 hurricane. 


After taking this driving tour we went back to the condo to pack up and check out.  We then went to a few more places on the island for bird watching before heading up towards Houston to check into the hotel we will be staying at tonight.  We got ready for tonight’s celebration and then headed back down to Galveston Island for the party!

The celebration planned for tonight is to wrap up this year’s BoBB! We are also having a belated Birthday celebration for our esteemed leader ….. Anni ….. AKA BikerBear.  We had such a wonderful time tonight and the entire week!  I want to thank everyone that made our first BoBB a memorable one! What an amazing time we have had and I can’t wait until next year!! I have included a picture of our group in my collage.  The only people missing are Richard and Eddie.
