A tractor in the sea
11.4C. Light rain for most of the morning, then drying up and trying to be brighter.
Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk after lunch and when the rain had stopped. We walked up to the church and had to really watch our feet as the road was so slippy with mud. The field was fine to walk in thankfully. Still a lot of cloud around so no bright blue sea today. Calm enough though.
Two trains went by as we walked along the cycle path and went through the small field with the sheep to the level crossing. Tide about halfway out. Down on the beach we walked along the damp sand and didn't see anyone until we got to the Fishermen's huts. At the huts there was a group of people in the hut belonging to the man who owns 'Shamara II'. As Maeve and I wandered about looking for things we might blip the owner of 'Valhalla VI' came out of the hut and walked along towards his tractor.
Maeve and I wandered down onto the sand and were looking around the creel rack and along by 'Wee Peem' when we heard the tractor start up. Next thing the tractor came down one of the gaps in the dunes with a little rowing dingy on the platform it has at the back for just such jobs. As we watched the man drove down to the waters edge and reversed the tractor into the water a few feet. He climbed down from the cab, got the boat into the water, climbed in, and off he rowed out to 'Valhalla VI'. The light wasn't great for seascapes but I did get a few shots of the rowing.
Maeve and I wandered off towards home before he set out to sea, but we assumed he was having a later than usual round of the creels. It made a pleasant change to see some action, albeit very slow and totally non dramatic action, on the beach at the huts. Maeve carried on sniffing about and looking for blips through the whole thing :-)
Later the clouds to the West were all lit up and pink again. We have had a lovely series of sunrises and sunsets these past few days.
