A Writer's Life

End of term

After an afternoon in the pool, both boys were exhausted and fell asleep as soon as their head hit the pillow. Henri woke up a few times to feed, but slept until 7:45. Oli woke up at 6 crying, and when I checked on him said he didn’t want to get up. I told him to go back to sleep, and he slept until he was awoken by his brother at 8:45. We need to have more pool days, it’s doing wonders for their sleep!

As for me, it was my last morning of the summer term. So I got up, and had a very quiet breakfast without the kids. It felt rather strange to have silence... it has been a while!

I stayed at work later than usual and Henri was waiting for me (or for my milk!). Somehow, spending three days together made both boys miss me more today, so the evening involved a lot of hugs and kisses.

Henri climbed onto his brother today and had a lot of fun tickling him. He also decided that he wanted to fall asleep in his own bed, probably because it’s so hot outside that breathing makes us sweaty.
