Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day, I’m always a little ambivalent towards it, I’ve never really needed a nod, the approval or thanks of others for my service.
I joined voluntarily, served, enjoyed all of it and left when my time was up, my choices and on my terms.
But today I enjoyed the scorching sunshine, a couple of beers, a tot of rum but most of all I enjoyed the company of my youngest daughter and granddaughter for the day.
Explaining the services and equipment to Anais and introducing her to the friends I met up with.
Sam and I slept over at Sarah and Manolo’s, it was hot, humid and ‘sticky’ but I slept like a log, over nine hours.
