golden light of evening
We often walk down to the end of the garden in the evening. The grass down there is left long until the end of July, when D will scythe it. Right now, it's taller than I am and catches the low sun beautifully (as does D's hair!). The lawn is beginning to look rather brown and parched, very different from in winter, when it is mostly soggy moss!
Today I harvested the first of our broad beans, and also made the first two jars of raspberry jam - last year we made 50lb - a taste of summer to enjoy all year round.I'm storing up memories of these lovely long warm sunny days to remember when we sit by the fire in December with the curtains closed at 3pm!
