It had to be done

Rain or shine you cannot come to the champagne region of France and not partake in a glass or two.

This aftermoon we arrived at the champagne house in Mareuil-sur-Ay where we are spending the last two nights of our French trip. It is located on the canal which runs alongside the Marne river.

We sat in the lovely garden under a parasol with a demi-bouteille of champagne - and down came the rain. It didn't spoil our relaxing afternoon after a three hour drive as it was very pleasant to experience cooler air and even the rain was welcome .

Looking forward later to a five course tasting menu accompanied by their champagne.
