Rags of light

Charm itself

Back in Toyko for our last night in Japan. We didn't want to leave! In contrast to our first few nights there in the neighbourhood district of Asakusa, we stayed in the bright lights of Shinjuku, which is more akin to everyone's image of the city - neon, traffic, people.

Despite the view that Tokyo is a difficult city to get around, I found it surprisingly easy, maybe because I'm a city girl at heart. The subway is very straightforward, super efficient and very clean. Japanese people are a delight - you only have to stand there for a minute with a map looking lost and someone will come and help you out, even if they don't speak much English.

We had a wonderful trip with so much to remember. The highlight for me, above the temples, the culture and the beauty, was the Japanese themselves. They are so polite, charming and friendly. They also do a very good line in comedy signage, so I thought this summed the whole thing up!
