Old Japan
Today we were in Kyoto, towards the end of our trip. We were quite tired by now and so I don't feel we really did it justice. It's a typical Japanese city - mostly ugly, very developed, quite frenetic, with some beautiful neighbourhoods and hidden gems. This is a shot in the old part of Kyoto which gives a sense of what it must have been like in the Edo period 1600 - 1867. You still see geishas wandering around and there are various artisans working on traditional crafts. I feel like I could go back again and spend a whole week in Kyoto getting under its skin.
