Falcaire Fiáin
It's getting a bit desert-like here! Hosepipe ban in Dublin and mutterings about a drought countrywide. It started off pleasantly warm and I managed half an hour in the polytunnel where everything has run amok. By 3pm it was 27C. Two swims today and both heavenly. This little scarlet pimpernel - falcaire fiáin - was down by the strand where a path had been beaten through the grasses to the water. It seemed perfectly happy in this parched patch. Apparently they open when the weather's good and close up as soon as its gets iffy and used to be called Shepherd's Weather Glass. There are also yellow pimpernel and bog pimpernel, both rampant in the garden.
Even foxes are finding it pretty hot - see extra- Her Foxiness sprawled rather elegantly post falafel eating.
