The Kindness of Folk
Here we go again- 13° and a chilly east wind. The shorts are back in the wardrobe, the sun umbrella is tightly furled, and the cardigan is on.
His Lordship’s daughter paid a visit to us yesterday bearing two bunches of red roses on a day totally different day of sweltering heat. Seven of them have been accorded the blip limelight.
The postie appeared this morning with a very heavy parcel from The Orcadian Bookshop in Kirkwall. Inside were Orcadian newspapers, Island magazines and a book about a Rousay childhood, but not a single clue as to the sender. Having phoned two friends on the Islands with no positive results, I phoned the book shop and they were able to give me the name of the person responsible. It was most unexpected but such a kind thought given the fact that we were forced to cancel our Orkney holiday this year. A heart to Margaret Flett.
I have included an extra image of the parcel contents.
