Iconic Melbourne ... The Shot Factory

Every time that I come to Melbourne I take a pic of the Shot Factory in Melbourne Central. The photos have won several awards, one just a couple of months ago in the photographic competition in the 'travel section' of Wanaka Senior Net, gaining 1st place.

The shot tower was built in 1888, and is 50 metres high, e.i. 9 storeys and has 327 steps leading to the top. It produced 6 tonnes of shot weekly until 1961, when the demand for shot diminished. The glass roof above is 84 metres high.
