The Cult of the Machine
This DeYoung Museum exhibition highlights the way artists of the 1920s and 1930s saw the emergence of the machine age. In many ways, their concerns echo the concerns of the current technological times. The photo shows the Nocturne radio built in 1935 of mirrored cobalt glass, satin chrome steel, and wood. Reflected in the glass is a1937 Cord, Soozaday, and yours truly.
