Ducklings are Outside!

Phew - I have finally transitioned all of the ducklings outside! The 3 littlest are all holding their own with the older ducklings, and they seem to be incorporating just fine. I oddly miss hearing the quacks in the house, but not the mess!

Sadly, one of the older ducklings died yesterday. I had noticed he wasn't keeping up with the rest of them, just sort of lying around. I noticed Thursday morning however that he was really weak. I brought him inside and made him drink and I put him in with the younger ducklings for company. I checked on him a little while later and the little ducklings had pulled some of his feathers out. I wrapped him in a towel and had him on my lap while I was working, getting him to drink every now and then. Sadly, one of the times I took him to get water, I could just see it in his eyes. He was dying. He was gone almost immediately. Poor little guy, I should have intervened sooner. Now I am hoping it wasn't something contagious, need to keep my eyes on the rest of the ducklings ;_;
