The Phoenix Rises

By sheilaM

Remembering Opa.

Tracy, her rose and Silver Sands beach.

She had it all planed to perfection.
The florist paper wrapped long stem rose.
The tide just turned to take the rose out to sea.
The weather beautiful and clear.

The act of remembrance will be in our thoughts for all caring people this weekend, as Remembrance Sunday approaches. But this rose was for Opa Stewart Eglin, ( Tracy's dad). He is sadly missed, but his memories enjoyed and shared. He was a great man and I never even met him.

After we left the beach we had coffee with the Rev. Peter. He is as mad and fun as a "Box of frogs", as she says.

Next we dashed (slowly) to Edinburgh. After a quick bite of lunch, several tram detours, road works and near bus misses, we headed to our pre-arranged session at Register house. I can't tell you what fun we had, both exploring the past of our family's. I managed a rampage through the records to 1811. It really was a wonderful and quick few hours.

Tracy thinks we have both found a new hobby.

NEXT we headed for a fabulous dinner at Nonna's kitchen where Ally met us. It's the first time I have evr had a dish made for me that was not on the menu. What a chef he is and what a wonderful family run restaurant. Tracy was made very welcome as they know her from the past 20 odd years.

This was indeed a day of 4 halves and I would repeat it again in a minute given the chance.

Thanks for letting me join you Tracy. I was honoured and very pleased to share your day.
