Choice: Rot or Grow

Ok, so this thing decided against rotting in my cupboard. I don't know why. It didn't have much opportunity - no water, no sun, no air (to speak of). All it had was choice. It chose. Now what do I do? It's too early to plant it in the garden (covered with a foot of icy snow). I can't really save it until the ground thaws. It chose to start growing and sprouted healthy leaves when all odds were against it.

I'm grateful for reminders like this. Each of us has an opportunity every day to choose whether to rot or whether to grow. I guess this one may survive even the compost pile.
