WILD FLOWER - ROSEBAY WILLOWHERB

We went up to Jack’s this morning as usual and met up with our various friends.  Even just after 9.30 it was very hot, so it was great to be sitting there with the air conditioning going full belt and enjoying coffee and chat.

When we came home and turned into our cul de sac, I noticed that the wild flowers outside the fence of a neighbouring property were looking beautiful in the sun, so went over the took a few photographs.  I think these are Chamerion angustifolium commonly known as Rosebay Willowherb and they looked beautiful against the blue of the sky, which is cloudless once again.  I did titivate the shot slightly in my Painteresque App.

I know that there are hosepipe bans in place in different areas, but at the moment, there isn’t one in our town, so Mr. HCB says he will have to water the vegetables that he has planted very soon, because his three water butts are all empty.  These sort of weather conditions make us realise just how difficult it must be for farmers in places like Africa, where they can go months or even years without rain.  The trouble with the UK is that once it starts raining, it never knows when to stop!

Mr. HCB is now happily watching cricket and he tells me there is a football game on later, so that’s him settled for the afternoon so I’m going to sit in the garden under the umbrella and read my book.

To see a world in a grain of sand
and a heaven in a wild flower,
hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
               and eternity in an hour.
William Blake
