Lisbon

Our first full day in Lisbon. We headed over to the tram stop for the number 28 tram (a tourist route). I took one look at the queue and decided it was not for me. Instead we found a bus going up to the castle, and this turned out to be a better choice as it goes all the way to the entrance to the castle, which the tram does not.
We had a walk around the castle and then walked down to a bar where we had lunch. For the rest of the way down we took a tram number 12 to descend back down to sea level. Stopped off at the same bar as yesterday for a couple of drinks before going our for dinner. The restaurant we had chosen did not accept credit cards which is rather unfortunate, and also chose to add a service charge which was non discretionary.
On our return to the hotel we had a couple of glasses of port, red (tawny) this time. On returning to the room we found that the hotel had left a slice of cake with Happy Birthday wishes. A nice thought.
