The vertebral column consists of twenty four articulating vertebrae and nine fused vertebrae in the sacrum and coccyx.
All mammals have seven cervical (neck) vertebrae except for sloths and the manatee.
The giraffe has a neck 2m long but still only has seven vertebrae (each almost a foot long)

Dem Dry Bones is a well known traditional spiritual song. The lyrics are based on Ezekiel 37:1-14 where the prophet visits the Valley of Dry Bones.
