President of the United States...his golf ball box
This little red box, carries on top the Seal of the President of the United States of America. It used to belong to President Eisenhower, who, according to his son, used it for the important task of keeping golf balls in at Augusta.
Since the presidential elections were only a couple of days ago, I thought this might make a good Blip.
I own it, since it was given as a gift of the Eisenhower family to my mother. My mother for many years was chief guide at Culzean Castle in Ayrshire. President Eisenhower had been gifted a flat in Culzean in recognition of his war time efforts when he was Supreme Allied Commander. Even after his death, his family would on occasions visit, including his son John, himself a General. It was John who gifted the little red box to my mother in recognition of many years of friendship. Its a small world is it not?
