Lamplighter of Maryport.

This is one of two sculptures in the town. They were created by the late Colin Telfer, who used coal or iron ore dust in the construction of them. He made several sculptures some of which went to Whitehaven and out of the county. The second sculpture in Maryport is called 'Fishy tales' and can be found where the river Ellen goes under the road bridge. The lamplighter use to have a dog at his feet, but this was vandalised several years ago.
