On the Cusp of Berlinale
Tuesdays are my meeting day. UGH. Literally, ALL DAY.
At the end of the day I am usually totally and completely WORTHLESS.
Thankfully I had a couple of friends to pep me up out of the oatmeal brain.
As I left one to meet the other I crossed Potsdamer Strasse to see a sea of red.
And then I remembered.
The blasted film festival.
Friday, critics, actors, directors, paparazzi, and randoms will descend on the city and my neighborhood will become impossible for 10 solid days. Tables will be impossible to find. Cafes will be packed with people tearing every film they've seen to smithereens, and public transport will be impossible.
On the other hand - you have the opportunity to gain LOTS of good Samaritan points helping people find their way and telling them where all the obscure theaters are and sharing the extra chairs at your table... Silver linings, silver lining, silver linings.
The picture doesn't do it justice. It was this beautiful shock of red. I'm still learning this photography thing guys...
But you don't miss the point do you - The Berlinale Film festival starts Friday - and this kilometer of signs makes sure you know it.
