Rip
When the snows came yesterday (the real thing!) it looked like the world might be pulling down the shutters for a few days. I was told the creche might be closed for today, so I was relieved to find the weather had lifted a little by this morning. My wife is away for the whole week on a business trip in Canada and I didn't fancy babysitting all day every day while taking care of mum at the same time. When I was able to get out, I did some shopping then went down to the sea (I had caught a glimpse of the white rollers from Blackrock Shopping Centre).
I walked across the railway bridge then down to one of my little posts, the old wall with that gap through which you can see the sea and Pigeon House chimneys. I became excited by the textures and colours ? beautiful slaty greeny greys and creams ? and I shot around 200 frames, far too many to sort properly. My fingers went completely numb within about 5 minutes (I was there the best part of an hour) so I had to keep stepping behind the wall and shoving my hands under my jumper to warm them. My body heat was such a contrast it felt as if my hands were burning. But I think it paid off.
Here's a couple more:
