Thursday: Johnston Canyon

Our intention had been to go to Lake Moraine today. We were pretty surprised to find that activity at the lake was intense enough for access to the lake to have been closed. I can see why you need to keep numbers under a bit of control but it does seem odd to close off access to a lake - it's not like it's a private enterprise. Lake Louise was similarly overrun.

So, instead, we drove back to Banff along the Bow Trail and went for a long walk through the canyon. It was very scenic and not too overrun.

We then had a picnic lunch at the Vermillion Lakes before exploring what Banff had to offer.

Chinese for dinner which made a nice change.

P.S. I was determined not to blip mountains or lakes today.....
