Lady Godiva Statue

Visited Coventry before but never had a chance to get to know the story behind it. Below is what I quote:

"The 1949 statue depicts the legend of an 11th Century noblewoman who reputably rode naked through Coventry after her husband harshly taxed his tenants.
He said he would remit the taxes if she stripped naked and rode through town. She issued a statement ordering citizens to stay inside and shut their windows, but a tailor, known as Peeping Tom, couldn't resist having a look.

Lady Godiva has been referenced frequently in popular culture - from the chocolate maker to Freddie Mercury's lyrics - and remains a popular figure around the world for her demonstration of anti-establishment sentiments."
