House of Bethany

Part of the old House of Bethany orphanage, a grade II listed building.  A lot of the buildings have been utilised: as a school and as sheltered housing.  But this bit has been left to rot and is no doubt a haven for rough sleepers and drug dealers.

This morning's entertainment was watching a van break its crankshaft (at least that's what I'm told happened) at a busy junction next to my crossing.  From the look of the van and its driver he clearly didn't run to AA membership. Being unable to push his van to the side of the road because of the damage done, he proceeded to mend his van in the middle of the road with streams of traffic navigating round him. There were three fellows under the van by the time I left.
