Last night we slept in a carpark at the ferry terminal at Stornaway. At 11pm were just watching an episode of "Goliath" before bedtime when through the windscreen who should we see but Alex! It's uncanny how we just keep meeting like this! We had a chat and walked with her to the hotel where she is staying. I'm rather sad that we are unlikely to bump into each other in Dumfries (but stranger things have happened..).
We were up before 6 to catch the ferry and the sea was like a millpond. The view in this photo is of the mainland as we approached Ullapool.
It was a long drive back - 6 and a half hours on what must have been the hottest day of the year so far. We had to scoot off the M74 a junction early as there had been a crash which caused long tailbacks. from what I can find out, no-one was badly hurt, which was a relief.
Here at home, the grass is a little longer, the roses are out and there are telltale signs that oldest son has visited in our absence, played the piano and eaten some noodles.
All is well, back to normal life :-)
