Petworth

The Petworth News today is that the house we drove over to see is not The One. Yet another Not The One. Tiring.

But after a lovely tea at the Tiffin Tea Room, took time to walk round. Petworth is full of interesting old buildings and attractive streets. This beautifully cobbled one is Lombard Street, with The Hungry Guest Café on the right and various antique shops further on, none of which have anything we could afford. The church you can just see peeking in the top of the picture is St Mary the Virgin, on the A272 as you drive through on your way to Wisborough Green and Horsham.

Petworth Park is right next to the town, with its 17thC house and deer park, the next of the large Sussex estates going east from Midhurst. Now owned by the National Trust. As my old friend George used to say, Well Worth a Visit.
