Tools of the trade

Today we were felling trees. That sounds exciting, and it is for the few minutes it takes to fell the tree. It's the hours of chopping up the felled tree, removing the foliage etc that is the real hard work.
So, two large trees and several small ones have come down. The alder behind the chain saw is no more and a large fir is also felled.
Now we can see a lot more sky, even if today it is grey, cloudy and raining. Yes, raining, for the second or third time in two months so nature will be very pleased.
We were less pleased. The rain was OK but I'd forgotten just how many midges appeared when it rained gently without any wind!  We persevered until we had dealt with all the clearing up and then retreated thankfully indoors!
