Backblip #1 Zagreb
We woke to a lovely sunny day in Zagreb. We caught the tram to the city and wandered around. We really loved Zagreb. It is a bit run down in parts and shabbier than many of the capital cities in Europe but it has a lot of character. It feels much more real and not so touristy. After a leisurely lunch and some shopping we caught the funicular up to St Mark's square to visit the fascinating Museum of Broken Relationships.
It had turned into a stinking hot day and we had to try and cool down afterwards with an ice cream from one of the many gelaterias on the way to the tram back to our accommodation. After a rest we tackled the city again and found the place buzzing with football fans. Every restaurant had a TV telecasting the World Cup match between Argentina and Croatia. See extras. We found a great little Turkish restaurant for dinner away from the mayhem then wandered to the town square in time to see Croatia kick their 3rd goal and seal the match. The place went crazy but everyone was well behaved and the atmosphere was fantastic.
