University Visit
This morning I accompanied Thomas on a university open day to visit Imperial College in London. He is interested in engineering so we had talks and tours booked with both the aueronautical engineering and the mechanical engineering departments. For those not familiar with the university, it is one of the world's premier science universities ranked 3rd in Europe and 8th in the world (although to be fair different organisations do give slightly different rankings) Thomas thoroughly enjoyed his visit and we were both so impressed by the course, their facilities and the quality of the lecturers who we met. They have the largest wind tunnel in Europe, it can fit a F1 car which he found really cool. He also saw how the flight simulator worked and some got to have a go in it.
Unfortunately the university has really upped it's game with applications - four years ago Adam received an easy AAA offer from Imperial College, (compared to Cambridge who gave an offer of A*A*A*A*) whereas today Imperial want a minimum of A*A*A, an entrance exam and an academic interview. It's certainly not easy to get in there but it is worth a shot.
It was another really hot day - there was a breeze this morning that kept it cool but by the afternoon it was just so hot. We had some sushi for lunch which was a treat, and we ate it in the busy square off Exhibition Road which was full of people enjoying the sunshine.
I am so enjoying The Crown! I could certainly binge watch the whole series...
