Inuksuk

Went for a walk at the Gorges de la Diosaz today. Shady and cool on another baking hot day. This is an example of an inuksuk cairn as built by the Inuits in the Arctic. Inuksuk means to act as a human being, and these cairns are used in various ways - directional markers, scarecrows, danger flags, etc. An inuksuk was also used as the emblem of the Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010. Enjoyed learning about these today!
