Worsbrough Mill
We could hear the mill grind wheels working away as we ate our lunch in the cafe. In this day and age it’s good to think that some things are still produced in the way they always were and that this building is not just another museum. It’s a long time since we last visited and we think the cafe must have been taking over by new owners as the previous proprietors were struggling because of family illness.
So what did we see as we walked around the lake and on the millpond?
2 herons
3 Great Crested Grebes plus three babies (one grebe asleep with its head tucked into its white neck - I wondered what it was!)
Lots of mallards in family groups
Several Canada geese + 1 white one
1 male Emperor Dragonfly - constantly on the move and not finding a mate
Common Blue Damselflies
1 Comma butterfly
A few ringlets, speckled woods, meadow browns scattered among the brambles.
And very few flowers - it all seems so dry this year.
