Diary of an Edinburgher

Swimming progress...

Yesterday after the movie and doing my blip, I settled down by the fire, slippers on, stir fry ingredients chopped up ready to go, coffee and iPad in hand (s), and then I remembered... Swimming!! Such is my dedication that I rushed and grabbed my togs and went without even pausing to consider bunking off! For Pilates I wouldn't be so dedicated, of course.

AND I did several dozen proper front crawl breath takings without stopping!

Seems a shame to have to add that my feet were firmly on the ground at the time... But I have to add that.

This morning Leo and his mum came for a coffee before we went to the toddlers' swimming class. After last week, we were interested to see Leo's reaction to another session. He was on great form, laughing and eagerly climbing up the stairs to the pool, evidently having completely erased last week's unpleasant memories.

When we got into the pool area, it began to dawn on him, and a look of consternation clouded his wee face. It was like (for those of us old enough to remember) Fry's Five Boy's Chocolate , in reverse! lol!

After he had his wee togs on, he then clung to me like a limpet instead of his mum. Probably figuring out that if he clung on hard enough a fully dressed person couldn't carry him into the water like last week. However, he didn't make as much fuss this week, and although he didn't actually look like he enjoyed it, unlike all the other happy toddlers, he wasn't as vocal in his misery as last week.

I was taking some photos with just Leo and his mum in the frame, and an official came and told me I wasn't allowed. I showed him the photos of just Leo, no other child, and said he could check at the end, but this wasn't good enough. An older woman came and told me how ridiculous it was that I couldn't take a photo of my own grandchild. Well, he could be, and it is ridiculous. It's quite a milestone in his wee life, but no photos. I did get some, actually, but my lens was steamed up.

Still a lot of greenery in the Meadows. This chap jogged by. He's meant to be blurry - it's not that I just wasn't ready... lol!
