Pigeon street

We’ve got some pigeons nesting in our garden ... some people have bluetits and other lovely birds but we have pigeons! They’re not the most popular of birds but it’s been interesting to observe the comings and goings. Apparently they have unique nesting habits in that the male chooses the site, selects a stick and puts it in front of his mate, the female then places the stick underneath her and so it goes on. I have seen one of the pigeons bringing sticks for the last few days, can’t imagine it’s going to make a comfortable nest but still! Oh and another name for pigeons is rock doves which sounds altogether nicer! My photo, which was the best I could manage is of the male bringing yet another stick for his mate. I couldn’t get a good picture of the nest as it’s deep in the tree and too dark to take a photo.
