Everybody loves lavender!
A lot of visitors on the lavender this morning. I spent some time to take pictures and to count about nine different types of butterflies, most of them unknown! I tried to take an acceptable picture of the hawk moth, but failed miserably! When I downloaded pictures on my computer, apart from butterflies, all sorts of insects appeared (hence the title)!
I love this picture of the painted lady (?) and the bee looking at each other! I know... the bee is blurred... you can’t have everything in life.... but I love the curled proboscis of the butterfly!
The extras show the hawk moth (if you look closer you can also see a funny looking kind of giant flying ant), a small hairy dark brown butterfly/moth and a tiny spotted butterfly.
There were two different kinds of swallow tail butterflies on my buddleia too, but they didn’t land for long, maybe because there were a lot of carpenter bees on it too. It’s a hard life!
