Mono Monday : : Power

These two guys came today to install the handrail we ordered after friends came for dinner and one of them almost fell through the front door. We had almost forgotten about it because it's been so long, but they called this morning and said they would be right over. They used a series of power tools, including a drill which cored out a big hole in the two inch thick stone, only to discover that there was a further layer of marble underneath that. I was a little worried about the power cord's proximity to the water that one of them was spraying on the drill to cool it, but they seemed to have everything under control. We're happy with the result...it was worth waiting for, and considering the fact that it took us almost forty years to get one in Berkeley, five years isn't so bad.

Well Walking Wombat, you were right. we didn't see yesterday's little blue visitor for the rest of the day, but while I was having coffee after class this morning I got a text with a picture* from Oil, er, BirdMan...he's baaack.....I picked up some proper parakeet food on the way home. We don't know where he came from, but he seems to prefer it here and he has found a couple of non-threatening friends on the porch rail.

While I was taking to the guys from Fabworx, I noticed that some of the multitude of tadpoles in the pond next to the steps are beginning to get legs. It's a good thing too for they will soon be buried in algae.
We didn't know what effect algaecide would have on tadpoles but it couldn't be good, so we decided not to use it until they depart. At least that's what oil/bird/frog man thinks.

Never a dull moment here on Wildwood Trail.
