Diary of an Edinburgher

Heat wave!

Gym ✖️

I have 'frozen' my gym membership for a few months. I will try my bike instead, because the cross trainer has not worked on my knees at all, six months later, and almost every day, Bar a couple of holidays. Oh, and a week off when I fell off the ladder.

Jings! What a scorcher. I couldn’t cope with this heat for days on end. But where do you go in the heat? Portobello Beach, as long as it's not the weekend and the kids are still in school. Even so, it was busy. Not so much fun for Archie, because there are too many folk with picnics that he has to check out, and there are lots of dogs - only a problem if there are any puppies, so we're always on 'puppy alert'.

We were supposed to be there to see Bailey's mum in swimming, but we weren’t there on time. We caught up with her and Bailey and one of Bailey’s walkers for a bacon bap and coffee.

By this time, it was about midday - lunchtime at the school, and who should JR meet but lots of her ex-colleagues escaping to the sun during their break, so she had a good impromptu catch up.

On the way home, we popped into the car dealership where we've bought many of our cars. We've been discussing it for a while, but we were Just Looking...

But no - we did come away with a new one. Makes sense to keep swapping them before they start going wrong. Yay! Maybe Archie will like this one better. We pick it up tomorrow.

Back home and relaxed in the shade before having a barbecue. The neighbours also had a barbecue, and Archie chose to sit beside them. Huh!

JR is carefully placed in the photo to hide the wrong spelling!! Honestly, don’t they teach them anything at school these days...
