Oystercatcher
I spotted two of these on the Leisure Centre field this morning - I have only ever seen them before on the coast - we are over 20 miles inland. According to the RSPB website they are now beginning to live inland and feed on worms as their normal diet of cockles is dwindling. They are on the orange list so there is some concern about their future, but not yet critically endangered.
Beautiful birds with their bright red beak and pink legs.
Thank goodness for the x30 zoom - they were the length of the football pitch away
