Thistle Down

Joy to You

Two bundles of babies,
Just sent from above.
To dwell here on earth,
And to share in your love.

Tender hearts beating,
Counting the minutes of life.
So eager to come here,
And partake of life's strife.

Two bits of heaven,
God's own treasured gift.
With souls set a sail,
On mortal waters...to drift.

Supreme in their pattern,
In innocence they lay.
These two wee portions,
With an eternal ray.

Let thy hand be gentle,
On this human clay.
Do the work of a Master,
They all will say.

Add a little of that,
Take a little of this.
For a sculptors tool,
Is apt to miss.

With a deep inner-feeling,
And heart aches to mend.
Patience un-ending,
And love without end.

Reward them for good,
And strive with your might.
To show them an error,
And encourage the right.

Be an example,
And hope for the day.
When firm and up-right,
Stands this pliable-clay.

Great is the day,
And joy at your goals.
Knowing that you molded,
God's choice souls.
