Silves

Another day full of history.

We travelled to Silves, the old Moors capital of the Algarve.

We wandered around the ancient covered market, the red castle & Se Cathedral at the top of the town and the Ponte Romana Bridge over the river Arade with the pretty purple trees planted alongside. I think they are called Jacaranda trees (?) and they are featuring in lots of blips because they're so beautiful :-)

Then on to the town of Caldes de Monchique, a Roman spa town in the Monchique mountains with fantastic waterfalls (top left) :)
