Over
Poor peonies, they look so bedraggled, and it isn't quite over yet as the rest of the petals remain to fall. I think they still look beautiful.
A thoroughly lazy day. Of course we watched England thrash beat Panama 6-1, and then it was Senegal vs Japan. Both sides were impressive. We especially cheered Japan because Shinjo Okazaki, who plays for Leicester City, was on the field towards the end of the game.
I did take Basil on a circuit of Nanpantan Reservoir at 6 pm. I can't be sure but I thought I heard grebelets cheeping. Too far away to check if Mum and Dad were carrying them on their backs. Will have to visit again to find out.
Two Mandarin duck broods of five apiece. No small coots although an adult was around. Perhaps the carp had eaten the little ones. And plenty of feathers at points round the water. There had been duck carnage.
I've had a photo published in the latest edition of Outdoor Photography magazine (August edition.) Male stamens of the goat willow.
