Goldfinch
On our walk this morning, we spotted this little goldfinch perched on a weed and happy to pose for us - as long as we didn't get too close.
I learned today that the collective noun for a group of goldfinch is a 'charm'. A charm of goldfinch - I like that.
On our way back to the car, we spotted 20 - 30 welcome swallows swooping up and down a stream-like extension of the inlet. It was fascinating to watch but impossible to get a good photo as they move so fast and in an erratic manner. There must have been a bonanza of insects newly available and there were a pair of fantails joining in the feeding frenzy as well.
