Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
This is a very deep and narrow canyon not far from Montrose in Colorado. This section of it is known as the Painted Wall because of the variety of colours of rock in it. This is the highest cliff in Colorado and at 2300 feet, if you were to place the Empire State Building on the floor of the canyon, it would reach half way up. Now that is totally amazing! And I was at the top, looking down on the river at the bottom!
There has been a bit of a breeze today which cooled us down a little. We have visited some interesting little towns - notably Durango, Silverton and Our and travelled a fair distance again. Tonight we are in Montrose and have an early start (As usual) to get to the Royal Gorge Railway in time for our lunch time trip.
Thank you all for your interest in our travels. We love having these times to share with you.
