Quelle surprise!

Some weeks back I repotted a young Jade plant using compost from a bag labelled "sterilised"!

The resultant crop of pansies is therefore a bit of a mystery, but a most welcome freebie nevertheless.

The "extra" was taken yesterday during a visit to the Peterhead Arbuthnot Museum. It was labelled "decorative design in a bottle" and was made in the late 1800s by a bored sailor during a whaling expedition to the Arctic. An interesting change to the usual ship in a bottle.
