GEOMETRICAL
Made a slow start to the day which was nice. Then I went to The Sage, Gateshead to pick up a couple of tickets.
I already had a photo ready to use as my blip for today but when I saw the banners and posters around The Sage I thought that they fitted the Abstract Thursday challenge which is Geometrical. They are advertising The Great Exhibition of The North which takes place from 22nd June until 9th September. It is billed as " the biggest event in England." Among the events taking place will be a daily Water Sculpture on the River Tyne, various exhibits and performances in different locations - all illustrating art, technology, design and innovation. There will be an Art Trail, a Design Trail and an Innovation Trail. The poster and banner in my blip shot are for the Art Trail. Thanks to Ingeborg for hosting the challenge.
After taking my photos I walked across the Swing Bridge to get the shuttle bus into the centre of Newcastle. There wasn't one due for 10 mins so I decided to walk. Its a steep uphill climb but at least it added to my step count.
In my Extras you can see what's happening at the moment with Greys Monument in Newcastle. Another attraction for the Great Exhibition. A halo of flowers has been fixed round the top and then 130-foot multi-coloured ribbons will be attached to make a giant maypole. Looking forward to seeing it in action - a future blip shot maybe.
I did some shopping in Waitrose - and then noticed John Lewis had a clearance event going on so I popped in there. Got a few baragains.
The weather today has been OK. Quite warm and sunny - at times. Not quite Summer weather - but it was making an effort.
