Vacation Day 2

The area we went to was in far south west China and definately an agricultural area with almost every free space taken up with some type of crop.

The day started early, well actually ended early when we arrived at the hotel in Kunming at 12:00am. An early morning start for a 9:00 train to Da Li. 9 hours on the train but a fairly comfortable trip once we moved to the first class area. So many interesting people on the train. In the south west the people often carry things in baskets slung on their backs like a kid carried a bookbag. It was not uncommon to see three or four chickens in a basket on their back.

There was aleways lots of things to see out the windows and this was a cpouople I snapped from the train. Not the best pic but still give a picture of the farming life.. Everything is done by hand.

After we arrived at Da Li we walked to a hostel called The Jade Emu which was run by an Aussie named Dave and his partner who was due to have a baby any day. Great place to stay and just outside the old town of Da Li.
