Diary of an Edinburgher

Lunch

Gym ✔️

Popped to the doc to review my pills, then to the gym. I'm to be weaned off my pills, lest I become addicted. As I didn’t really notice any improvement while taking them, I think I could stop them tomorrow, but I'm not allowed.

There had been a message from the car dealer about a service due, but we'd ignored it for a week or so. Listened to it today, and they said it was due an MOT. TODAY. Eeeek!

Panic stations! It would be illegal tomorrow. JR took it up to the local garage who told her to leave it there, they might be able to do it today. And they did. Phew!

Elizabeth came for Archie, unusually, on a Monday, but he was delighted anyway. So we popped across the Links for lunch in a non-dog friendly cafe. They specialise in steaks, and we had a nice lunch, though the string fries weren’t hot enough. We got a new lot, and a free coffee and an apology at the end, which was very good PR. Also, the music was unobtrusive.

I came home to watch the tennis, and JR went for a browse round the shops. We have so many wee independent shops in the area which require constant monitoring (apparently). She did not come home empty handed...

I had my EarPods in coming home. As I rounded the home corner, there was Archie, Elizabeth and Bill, her dad. They were heading out for a coffee at the local cafe. Elizabeth pointed out my EarPods to Bill, who gasped and said how very expensive they are. I was impressed that he knew all about Apple's extortionate prices, and wholeheartedly agreed with him.

”£3,000!” he exclaimed, incredulously.

Turns out that he thought I was wearing hearing aids! So I was able to say they were MUCH cheaper than that.

But not that much...

Just watching the England football match. Murray's game tomorrow. So much sport on now - I love my big TV.

PS Who would have thought they’d be plagued by midges in Russia...
