Relax and Reflect
I've taken a picture of our back garden, to show a friend, and I thought I would blip it. The garden was a wilderness when we first bought the house. The round patio circle was a DIY effort of me and a good friend. We put pebbles and stepping stones all around the edges of the round patio.
Later, Jane, who was working full-time, had a massive MS relapse and was in hospital for 12 weeks. She never walked or worked again after this. While she was in hospital I set about making our home wheelchair accessible for when she returned. I paved around the patio circle, did away with a couple of steps and took off the bottom of the door frame.
I remember that we even set up a garden, wheelchair accessible shower, using a hosepipe attached to the kitchen mixer tap, and a shower curtain from Wilko's. Jane used this until we were able to install a downstairs wet room. The outdoor shower invention worked really well. I'm an outdoor kind of bloke, and I loved showering Jane outside in the fresh air, but she said it was a bit too cold and windy on occasion.
Today, the back garden is small, but a lovely place to relax and reflect, and we all use it as much as we can.
